The Johan Friso Kanaal
starts at the old ports town of Stavoren at the Johan Friso lock. Soon it crosses the inland lakes of Morra, Fluessen and Heeger Meer. The lakes are rather shallow, the navigation channel and the entries to the marinas are buoyed. After Heeger Meer it crosses Wijde Wijmerts and ends at the Prinses Margriet Kanaal.
This windy area is a favourite estuary for sailors.
