Overijsselse Vecht
This river, called Vechte in Germany, has its source in Münsterland, Westphalia, crosses Niedersachsen and reaches the Netherlands finally at Laar.
The river was an important waterway between Coevorden and Zwolle in medieval times and water level in summer was then a problem already. In 1908 the river was canalised with the result, that it had even less water. Therefore seven locks and weirs were built in 1920.
Today, River Vecht is navigable as far as Junne.
