Hollandse Ijssel
it can be called a river only limited today since it is feed, after the many dykings and detours of waterways in this part of Zuid-Holland and the Zeeland, by canals only. But, it managed to keep its river character to a large extent until Gouda. Afterwards it is a canal for large vessels until it flows into the Nieuwe Maas, short before Rotterdam.
The influence of tides goes as far as Gouda and is between 1.80 and 3.30 m.
