The canal starts at Heuilley on the Saône and flows at Vitry le François into the Canal lateral à la Marne. Unfortunately there is practically no infrastructure for the first 78 kms however as of Langres it is much better. Having survived the first 3 days on your own provisions a very pleasurable trip awaits and one stands more or less at the gate to the Champagne.
