The Albert Canal is Belgium ’s longest waterway and crosses the northern provinces of Lüt-tich, Limburg and Antwerp. It connects the Lüttich industrial area with the ocean port of Ant-werp and is thus heavily travelled by freighters. This is not a reason to avoid it, however, as it flows through an area with broad meadows, beautiful forests, historic cities and magnificent castles.
