As is the case with Belgian north-south bodies of water, this has two names. The Schelde crosses the border in the south as the Escaut and keeps this name as far as the Flemish border near Warcoing, but it then becomes larger and larger and is called the Bovenschelde, end-ing temporarily near Ghent in the
Ringvaart.
