Coventry Canal
leading from Coventry to the Trent & Mersey Canal. After Bedworth it has a link to the Ashby Canal at Fazeley and then to the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal. And there exactly starts the problem with its name. One still argues whether the stretch from Fazeley to the Trent & Mersey Canal is called Coventry Canal or Birmingham & Fazeley Canal.
The reason for this confusion started during construction of the Coventry Canal. The company run out of money and looked for help at Birmingham Fazeley. They then changed the name of the northerly stretch.
Then people of Coventry paid back their depths and called it again Coventry Canal.
We leave it at this! It is charming and varied under both names!
