Ashton Canal and Peak Forest Canal
Cheshire

The Ashton Canal
The Ashton Canal runs between Ashton under Lyne and Manchester, UK. It links the Huddersfield Narrow and Peak Forest Canals with the Rochdale and Bridgewater Canals and forms part of the Cheshire Ring

The Peak Forest Canal
Part of the Cheshire Ring near Manchester, this canal runs from Dukinfield, where it links with the Ashton Canal, in the valley of the Tame to Marple. At this point it runs through an aqueduct ca. 30 m above the River Goyt. After branching off to Macclesfield Canal and an ascension of ca. 65 m through all 16 locks in only about 1.5 km, it runs through the valley of the Goyt to Buxworth Basin.
