River Thames
River Thames
The Thames arises from four tributaries, the Isis, Churn, Coln and Leach, which rise in the Cotswold Hills in southern Gloucestershire. Naturally the Thames, ca. 335 km in length, is the longest river* in England. Therefore it also is forced to flow into the North Sea at London…! The river is navigable over 243 km that is from its mouth in the North Sea near London to Lechlade, where the waterway formerly ran through the Thames & Severn Canal and Stroudwater Navigation to the Severn south of Gloucester. A very beautiful area, rich in variety and with good infrastructure.
*it is the longest river in England if one doesn’t count River Severn which flows mostly through Wales!!!
