River Parrett
River Tone
Westport Canal

River Parrett and River Tone

were part of the old waterway system between the Bridgwater Bay in the north, the town of Bridgwater in Somerset in the south of it and the small town of Tiverton in the southwest in Devon.
Today only River Parrett is navigable to Bridgwater, where the link to the Bridgwater & Taunton is still blocked.
Above Bridgwater, the river is only partially navigable; this also applies for River Tone.
The Westport Canal, at the upper Parrett or the side river Isle was first of all for de-watering and only navigable with small boats. There are quite many of them in this big, very flat region.
