The Basingstoke Canal
Being close to the capital, this canal is a favourite recreational area for the inhabitants of London, not only for boating, but also for wanderers and bikers.
It has, over River Wey and the Thames, a link to the rest of the British canal system but is unfortunately a dead end and doesn’t even reach the town which gave its name to the canal!
