River Trent and Trent Navigation
it is not only one of the biggest rivers of the country, it was until the beginning of the last century also one of the most important transportation ways.
Its source lies between Manchester and Birmingham. It used to be navigable from Burton upon Trent, today from Trent Lock, at the turning off to the Grand Union Canal. From Cromwell it is accessible for large vessels. At Trent Falls it joins River Ouse to the Humber, which leads into the North Sea after a few kilometres already.
