Lower Bann
is more likely a canalised river then a canal. It is the navigable link to the big Louth Neagh (259km2) and is together with it famous for the abundance of fish.
It is first of all a recreation area for people living near by but from time to time a seaman finds his way into this vast nature reserve.
Should Ulster Canal really be reopened again, this waterway would have a link to the rest of the Irish Inland waterways system and would therefore become more attractive.
