River Aare from Thune to the river Rhine 

 

Description: The Aare
is the longest purely Swiss river. It is navigable with small boats from Thune, where chainage starts. As along most of the other Swiss rivers, there are quite a few hydroelectric power stations which have to be surpassed in different ways but there are only very few locks. From the Lake of Biel to the city of Solothurne, barges until 30m can pass continuously.
