Limmat, the river of the poeple of Zurich! 

























Description
In the middle Ages the river was heavily used. Already in 1456 the people of Zurich attended a fair featuring shooting match in Strasbourg. In order to demonstrate how fast they were, they took for a present warm bread and millet gruel with them which they kept warm in straw and rags. After 20 hours it arrived still warm in Strasbourg. Every 10 years this visit is repeated, because of the numerous obstacles on the way it takes however 3 days now.
