The Linthkanal, Description
In 1807 work for the Linth canal between the Lake of Zurich and „Walensee“ started by Hans Conrad Escher von der Linth. The main purpose was the correction of the small river Linth which was, together with its feeders, again and again responsible for disastrous floods. The connection of the two lakes was another advantage. Today the canal may be passed with an authorisation only. One can get it over telephone number 055 442 11 55.
