Lake of Zug

The smaller of the two lakes in the centre of Switzerland has a surface of 38km2 and is 13.7 kilometres long. It has a maximum depth of 198 m.

Tourism & Information
While its big brother, the lake of Lucerne, has mountains all around it, Lake of Zug profits of the fact that it lies on the foothills of the Alps and doesn’t have any mountains on its western side. Sunset is therefore late and something very special. The Canton of Zug is also famous for low income taxes. This is another reason why the lake is rather exclusive. It’s easier to find a huge party boat than a passenger ship. The numbers of Hotels and Restaurants around it are as well record-breaking.

Cuisine and Cellar
The “Zuger Röteli”, a wonderful fish dish, has to be mentioned first. The canton of Zug is also one of the most important regions for cherry trees in Switzerland. Kirsch (brandy) and Kirsch-Torte are very well known. Of course one can get any other Swiss speciality or international cuisine.
